I was at CES2015 last week and lots of interesting technologies for In-Flight Entertainment & Connectivity (IFEC) applications. Looking at “Quantum Dot” displays as being lighter, cheaper and having far better color definition than plain LCD and OLED.
Unlike OLED’s, which I love by the way, the Quantum Dot (QD) displays don’t degrade like the OLEDs do over time. So you maintain a far richer color gamut over the life of the product.
And with the added benefit that these can be easily deposited onto a flexible substrate, they’re certainly going to give Flexible OLED’s a run for their money.
